6 PROVEN TRICKS TO MAKE WAXING LESS PAINFUL

It’s no secret that waxing hurts… but pain is beauty, right? Even though it’s not the most comfortable beauty regimen, I have some tricks that can make the process A LOT less painful. Besides, at W. Waxing Salon we specialize in providing the best waxes with as little pain possible.

1. Schedule your wax AFTER your period

Around this time of the month everything is sensitive, even your skin. Everyone has a different pain threshold, and the pain of the wax around this time might not bother you! Consider yourself lucky. For the rest of us, wait a few days after your period to schedule an appointment.

2. Drink lots of water

Hydration is important for your health, but it can also help reduce pain! I always recommend moisturizing the outside layer of the skin with lotion every day, but drink lots of water to keep the skin hydrated at the cellular level, too. When the skin is well-hydrated, it becomes plump (that’s why we look younger when we drink a lot of water, too!). The plump skin allows for the hair to easily be removed, therefore giving you a more enjoyable waxing experience! Drink up!

3. Take a pain reliever

Just for old time’s sake, pop a couple Advil 30 minutes before your appointment. It may help you, it may not! People are different. But if you are more on the sensitive side, I recommend trying this. I have clients to do this religiously and they believe it helps! Worth a shot, right?

4. Skip the alcohol

Speaking of shots… avoid alcohol prior to your waxing appointment. Alcohol sucks up the moisture from the skin, causing the hair follicles to contract. This tightening of the pores make it a lot more difficult for the hair to be removed as they will try to hold on to the hair. Instead, drink water!

5. Exfoliate first

Get the blood circulation in the area you will be having waxed. Exfoliating before your appointment will get rid of all the dead skin that accumulates around the hair follicles, but the increased blood flow also helps loosen the follicles, resulting in an easier waxing process and less painful! This also helps the wax to pull out all of the hairs in just one try!

6. Choose the right professional

Most importantly, make sure you go to a well-trained, professional waxing salon (ahem… W. Waxing Salon). Call ahead to find out their process, what kind of wax is used, and how experienced the staff is. An amazing professional will know how to take the steps to ensure a quick, almost pain-free waxing experience, leaving your skin smooth, silky, and healthy.
